Um. My car is extremely hard, if not sometimes impossible to shift

...whenever my car is on

When it is off it shifts great

As of this morning

When it is in first and the clutch is in allllllll the way it moves forward!

What's wrong, how do I fix it...and how much'll it cost?

Any ideas would be awesome!

  1. could be air in the hydraulic lines for the clutch pedal or it could be a broken pressure plate not releasing all the way.

Or another part in the linkage thats broken or bent

  2. You need to replace it 911! or one day you'll go outside and will be like "Dude, Wheres my Car?"

  3. Clutch needs to be looked at. Sounds like it might need to be replaced. You are looking at $500 to $1000. dollars. Can't really say untill you take it apart and look.

  4. first of all its a chevy cavalier!

dont fix it get rid of it ASAP!

  5. the clutch is gone woreout need to be replace.. first have you check the fluid  or have you had it adjusted maybe .. but best guess would be its gone  any shop can tell you is a minute

  6. It might need adjustment if it doesnt the clutch cable might need replacing, if that fails i might be the pressure plate or a worn clutch. if its a adjustment then 30 dollars the clutch cable it will be about 80-120 and for the clutch 300-800 depending on what shop you go to.

  7. CLUTCH PLATE NEED TO BE CHANGED?
