I notice this problem when i press on the break only when im traveling at over 40 mph.

When i start to push the break my steering wheel shakes, sometimes quite violently.

Any suggestions?

I haven't taken it in yet to be checked, so any info would be much appreciated.

Its a 2000 Toyota Camry, if that's relavent at all.

  1. Warped rotors, or another part is worn in the steering, or alignment.  First choice would be rotors though

  2. You need new rotors or get your rotors turned and of course replace the brake pads.

AutoZone has a deal right now if you buy the pads you get 15% off on rotors.

    AutoZone also turns rotors.

  3. bad rotors

  4. I am certain your front brake rotors are warped and in need of replacement as well as the brake pads, obviously.

It is about a $400 at the shop, minimum.

  5. Hold on, Hold on!!!! Rotors could be the problem or the most likely problem. Also, sticky caliper slider bolts can cause this or steering or chassis components like tie rods or ball joints. If your rotors are shaking that badly, do not have them turn the rotors, just replace them and get new front brake pads. Also have them clean and adjust the rear brakes if the do not need to be replaced. Get your car checked out with somebody that does a free safety inspection. Brakes are a safety issue and should not charge you anything for that inspection. Alignments do not cause shakes, or atleast bad alignments, they just wear tires or cause a pull. Now bad tires or bad tire balance causes a shake. I hope this helps you.
