My car smells like metal burning and the exaust is getting louder and it feels a little sluggish. Help please

You could have a partially blocked catalytic converter.

make sure you have coolant in your radiator or you might blow a head gasket.

I go with the others who say its your catalytic converter clogged. It will give off a crappy smell and cause the car to run very sluggish. Im almost positive that this is your problem. Probably will need to get the entire exhaust replaced. If you know a "backyard mechanic" type person that would be the best way to go, it would save you money as compared to taking it to a muffler shop.

could be your converter or make sure you the right oil and coolant some cars take special types

Check your catalytic converter, it sounds as if my be stopped up.
