The smoking could have been oil burning off since there is no oil cap (long story). At first the shaking was slight then got a lot worse. Slowing down or idling didn't seem to change anything shaking wise.

  1. Probably low in oil.Check dipstick and oil light when you turn the ignition on.  If it seized you will need a new engine or car.

  2. Call Click and Clack, the Tappet brothers.

  3. The driver. That car's a goner. poor thing.

  4. Sounds like you could have burned it up.  When's the last time you checked the oil?

  5. Sounds like you lost compression.

  6. well if there's no oil cap there might be a bunch of dirt in the oil system, transmission could've blew (if you can't shift at all), but it could be a list of problems... If its a car you plan on keeping I would invest in a Haynes repair manual for the car if you like to fix things yourself or have someone to do it for you. They're about like $50 at advanced auto or auto zone. Beats paying a few hundred dollars for garage repairs for something that'll take a couple hours and a few bucks. The repair manual also tells you whats wrong when you're car acts up (ex:car starts but stalls right away) it'll tell u whats wrong

  7. since you didnt have the oil cap you didnt have oil pressure  so i think you engine is out

  8. Motor burned up, the heat caused it to meld inside

Depending on the extent of damage, $350 and up, a rebuilt engine could go as high as $2000 installed.

    Time for a NEW car...............
