Bought used 02 ford focuszx3 hatchback w 6-cd player (think its stock?). Prev. owner had other speakers installed (found paperwork under floormat),and cars' rear spkrs didnt work so I assumed stock rear speakers were disconnected. I tore car apart and re-connected speakers, now none of the speakers works right; one front spkr sounds blown (didn't sound this way when it was only front ones working), they cut in/out, have static, and the fade and balance won't work right digital display on head unit won't move through numbers sequentially when trying to change fade/balance ie: as you turn k**b to fade spkrs to front, it might do this: F1, F2, F7,F1,F2,F1,F2). What could be the problem? short in wiring? could I have something hooked up wrong (the adapters on end of wires will only fit speaker one way so I cant have neg/pos backwards I dont think unles prev. owner had changed wire ends)? I know nothing about speakers/stereos all advice helpful. Looked on Crutchfield, info too general

  1. Sounds like not only are some speakers connected wrong, but also the radio itself may have issues due to you claiming the fade option skips.

  2. It probably has a wire loose to one of the speakers.  check them all and tighten up.  If it is soldered, you would need to find someone who knows how to use a soldering iron.  But usually they are just twisted on.  I agree with first writer, they are probably connected to wrong places to start with.
