  1. 14 year old car. probably less than a thousand

  2. Depends on how much the car is worth and how much damage there is to the car.  If the damage is worth more than the car the insurance company will label the car totaled and you will get the value of the car in compensation.  This is a range of prices for your car depending on the model and condition.

    1994-1997 Honda Accord Prices

Prices   Good          /           Average     /       Poor

    1994

    Accord         $1,700-2,400 /   $1,100-1,600 /  $300-400

    Accord EX $2,400-3,000 / $1,700-2,200 /     $500-600

    1995

    Accord            $2,000-2,900 / $1,400-2,000 / $300-500

    Accord EX $2,600-3,300 /$1,900-2,400 /$500-700

    1996

    Accord $2,400-3,400     /          $1,700-2,400 /$500-700

    Accord EX $3,100-4,000 /  $2,400-3,100 /$700-1,000

    1997

    Accord           $2,800-4,200/ $2,100-3,200/ $600-900

    Accord EX $3,800-4,800 / $3,100-3,900 /$1,200-1,500

  3. It depends, my sister had a 1992 Honda Accord and the whole back end was smashed in. He gave us $100 more just because there was a new radio in it. We had just gotten it painted the week before because someone did a hit and run on her front fender, but the paint was peeling anyways so we just painted the whole car. We were also trying to sell in and my dad died earlier that day (yes that week was a crazy week!) so they guy kinda felt sorry for us so he gave us more than we needed to fix it. The day after the accident (earlier that week) my dad took it to a gas station for an estimate and the guy told him he will crank up the price a little just so we get a little more money for it, so we showed that to the claims adjuster and he added like $1,000 (exaggerated) more than that. So in total we got like $3,000 from the insurance company. The car was worth like that much so it was totaled! We ended up giving the car away but we still got like $3,000 from it. Oh and this is in NJ. Also, this happened a little less than 3 years ago, so the prices are going to change a little.

  4. The insurance company will probably not use any book value.  Most use third party services like CCC which is a   service which provides the ACV.

CCC compares the loss vehicle to similar make/model/year vehicles in a database and a comprehensive report is produced which explains the basis of the valuation.

For a reference however, go to www.nadaguides.com/.   Use the low value.

Any old damage will be deducted from the value.  Make sure the adjuster has listed all of the options and the mileage is correct.
