My car was totalled???

So it was totalled over a month ago (and i havent received a rental) and the insurance gave me an above average quote so I accepted it. Well they took possesion of my car and sent me a form to release the title but haven't paid me, they say they will send out the check when they have the title and all the keys. Does this sound normal and if so how long will it take to give me the check, by the way I'm the title holder so the check will come to me. I haven't sent the title yet because I have nothing in writing about the offer they gave me.

  1. Tell them you will surrender the title AFTER they send the check. It will have a statement on the back where you sign giving acceptance conditions for their protection. If you have any other concerns, call your adjuster and ask. ADDED-----They should send the entire amount at one time. I have never heard of a company doing what they propose.

  2. learn to understand some principle conception before accept any suggestion is a great idea. Here is great place to start.http://carinsurance.expertsupport.info/a...

  3. which insurance company is it? My car was totaled in an accident by another driver and his insurance (USAA) sent my bank the check to pay off the loan, and then the title was sent.

  4. Do not give them the title without first having a certified check in your hands.  Get their proposal in writing before agreeing to do anything.  It would be helpful if you told us the name of the insurance company that told you this ?

  5. They want the title first???    I wouldn't.

Never ever trust an insurance company when money is involved.

  6. Yes, this is normal.  Although you should have received a copy of the printout on the value, this lets you know how they came to that amount.

You need to sign the DMV paperwork, send it back in with the title.  Your check should be sent upon their receipt.
