Question:

My car wont start, could it be the battery?

For a while now the clock in my car would go off and on and the backlight in the radio would fade in and out. I didn't think much of it until this morning when I tried to start it it wouldn't start, I tried jumping it but it didn't work. After a few minutes of letting my other car run with the jacks hooked to it and my other car it would catch but die within a few seconds.

The battery is the original battery and the car is a 2004 Suzuki Forenza. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  1. If the batt is really low, it won't generate enough voltage to satisfy the fuel injector computer, so the engine dies even if there's just enough juice to run the ignition.

Take the battery to a parts place for a quick, free test.  It's probably toast, but get it checked anyway.  Put the new batt in and then take the car in to have the alternator tested.  A four-year-old battery shouldn't die, so it's likely there's something wrong with your charging system, and that begins with the alt.  Funny, you should be seeing the CHARGE light on the dash coming on.

    Good Luck.

  2. Sounds like you might have a wire grounding out

  3. it could be the battery, it might have a bad cell or also the alternator could be bad and not charging the battery. take both of them to auto zone and have them checked out before you start buying anything.

  4. most likely a bad battery, have the alt checked also

  5. Yes, it could be a bad battery.  It could also be a bad alternator and/or a bad or loose ground.

  6. What is your other car?  This happened to my SUV and I tried to jump it with a Mustang, turns out the Mustang battery didn't have enough juice/power to jump a SUV/truck battery.

Could try a larger vehicle to see if its the battery.

  7. battery spark plugs fuel block

  8. It's the alternator, prolly. But first take your car to advance auto, walk in and ask them to check your battery. They'll do it for free. If it's not your battery they'll be able to tell you if it's your alt.
