  1. Try feeding it a mouse (Or rats, rats are WAY better for the snake) that is the same diameter as the biggest part of the snake. If you are feeding live you could stick with mice, but get the biggest one that you can. Rats are better for the snake because they have more protein than mice. Rats are more muscular then mice, and I've even heard rats have less bones. I don't know if that's true or not, but I know that when I fed my ball python rats she got a lot healthier looking. They are bigger around then she is, but she attacks them a lot faster then she will a mouse. I hope this helps.

  2. First try feeding a small rat - it may have been converted when you got it and lost its taste for mice. Then try different sizes and colors in mice - Carpet Pythons will often take a mouse bigger than you'd think and prefer it, just make sure it's not more than 1.5x the snakes widest point.

Second, make sure if you're freezing F/T that you heat it above room temperature once it's thaw, the extra heat makes the smell stronger.

If feeding F/T try shaking the mouse in front of it to simulate life(with tongs or something of course).

If it doesn't eat it right away(and it's F/T) just leave it in overnight, some are shy and won't eat in front of you, plus Carpet Pythons are nocturnal, more active at night anyway.

This one copied off a Boa website:

"Use the hide box method.  Let your boa get inside some hideaway and remain there for a while.  Then using the tongs, wiggle the warm, thawed rodent in the entrance to the hideaway.  Sometimes this is just too tempting to the boa, and they will often eat this way."

  3. pythons can become spoiled if looked after too intimately, and they get extremely grumpy, just give it a slap in the face and say 'eat boy!' and h**l eat, just basic discipline man. it wont be long before hes into drugs and hanging out with the wrong crowds

  4. I had the same problem with my snake. I have a seven ft red tail boa and when we first got her we couldn't get her to eat.

Like many animals, the new place could affect them and make them not wanna eat. Snakes can actually go for a year without eating so don't worry too much right now and give your pet some time.

If it still doesn't eat within a couple more weeks, consult an expert...

  5. are u feed live food or pre killed or frozen thawed because it might not be used to the method which your trying and this might be why its not feeding. also check u have the correct temps humidty etc. finally did u ask if there was any history of non feeding when u got the snake.
