I own a 1999 Ford Escort. it's been a pretty mild summer, but today when I tried to use the AC it only blew out warm air. What could be causing this, and how do I fix the problem? I tried to google it and had trouble finding answers. thx

  1. Sounds like you're running low on refrigerant. Best to go to a car store and ask them about it, but don't over fill it, it will just make the situation worse.

  2. the answer above is correct, you are lucky to need A/C ! we in england dont need it and hav,nt for about 3 years .its summer now and its raining and its cold ,but hey good luck with your problem

  3. chances are its lost its gas, its seals have most likely dried out, go to a machanic get it regassed, it might loose its gas again though (within a month) you might need to get the compressor replaced.

regassing isn't cheap usually. you should try and use your A/C for 5mins each week to keep the seals in good nick.

    have a good one.

  4. You have to find out why it's not cooling.  Judging by the year of your car, I'd say that the freon leaked out.  You'll have to fix the leak and have the system recharged for the a/c to work again
