  1. We have a 10 yr old long haired cat.  She is also losing her fur in clumps.  It seems mainly on her back and neck but is happening all over her body.  It appears through my research on the net here, that a lot of these cats are right around 10 yrs old that are doing this.  She may have a skin infection as she is an outdoor cat also.  We did switch her food to Iams, and our male cat looks like he is losing hair as well, but not to her extent.  I don't know what this could be, but before I put her down, I am advising my children to go ahead and take her to the vet.  I know it is expensive.  But it will depend on how you happen to deal with animals.  If you have the money, take your cat in too.

  2. Cats shed a lot!  Brush her more often, she will love it (even more than petting) and it will keep her coat clean and shiny!

  3. The best thing you can do is take her to a vet.  It's just like you would do if your hair was falling out, you would go to the doctor.

    Good Luck!
