  1. Some mommies just are prepared to take care of their young. Has she even acknowledged them? If she has but just stopped caring, make sure that she is not in pain or hurting. Then look over the kitties and check to see if they are okay. Sometimes a mother will not take care of her young if there is something wrong with it.

If all checks out then I would talk to your parents or partner and start taking care of them your selves. Go to the pet store and get kitty formula (like baby formula but for cats) and a bottle. It should cost around $20.00. Good luck!

ps- this site can give you more info and cute pics!

  2. Take them to the vet! The vet should be able to help you.

  3. you become the serrogate mother to them. Check out these websites for helpful information:

    www.kittenrescue.com

    www.peteducation.com

All were very helpful when I took over being momma to these 4 orphaned kittens one week ago.

  4. wow... i've never heard of that. call your vet immediately and ask for advice...

  5. become their mom. go to a pet store or a walmart and look for kitty milk formula and feed that to them. keep them in your room like on your bed or right beside your bed. you have to feed them at least every hour for the next few weeks. so please set an alarm for during the night so you can wake up

i'm so sorry to hear this hun. your gunna have sleepless nights the next week or so but its worth it

  6. You need to make a box or some kind of bed that you can put a heating pad in and cover it with a blanket to help them stay warm and hold their body heat. Go to the pet store and get kitten formula and little bottles. You will need to feed them every couple of hours or when they wake and start screaming. You will also need to use an old wash cloth and wipe their bottoms other wise they will get bloated and stopped up. Kittens won't potty on their own for a while you have to stimulate their bodies into going with a damp cloth. Good luck, it takes a lot of patience, devotion, and care and even then it can still go badly. They still might not make it. No need for water. They need replacement milk.

  7. Sometimes the mothers just refuse to take care of their babies. It happens all the time. Even for birds, sometimes when the mother has chicks, she will not take care of them, and you have to take care of them, become their new mother, and feed them through a dropper. Make sure the mother cats health is good, though. If shes not throwing up, her waste is looking normal, she is eating and drinking fine and she has not suffered any physical changes (shedding too much, etc...)

then maybe she is just one of the odd out cats that dont take care of their babies. You now need to become their mother, and will have to feed them through a bottle and teach them how to use their litter box. Have fun! Kittens are great =)

  8. Take them away from her, set them up in a warm bed, and get to the store asap for some KMR or other brand of kitten formula.  (Don't give them cow's milk!)  a pet store will have this plus some nursing bottles though sometimes I see them in the grocery store too.  Ihave found that the large "feeding syringes" work better than bottles.

The babies will need to be fed every few hours for the first couple weeks then you can start cutting that back and gradually introducing soft food (take some canned kitten food and mix it with some of the KMR to make a mushy paste, and encourage them to lap it up.)  You will also need to rub their tummies after they eat, to encourage them to p**p.  This is what the mother would be doing if she were taking care of them.  They should be fully weaned off of the formula by the time they are about 7 weeks old.

After their eyes are open and they are getting around pretty well, you can also start their litter training by putting them in a shallow little box for a few minutes after they eat.  They will pick that up pretty quickly.

Look online for other tips on hand raising kittens.  There may be something I've forgotten here but that should get you started.  And go ahead and plan to get the mother spayed very soon.  Good luck!!

  9. You will need to take over as their total care giver. Not all cats are capable of being good mothers so it will be necessary for you to get her spayed immediately because she WILL get pregnant again right away.

    Kitten Care.

Go to Walmart, similar store or pet store and purchase kitten formula and kitten bottles

Feed the kittens every 2 to 3 hours around the clock. Hold them in the palm of your hand with the head raised and rub the nipple of the bottle on their mouths until they latch on.

Several times a day, take a warm damp soft rag and massage their rectal area to promote a bowel movement. This is what the mother cat does when she licks this area, besides cleaning.

Keep the kittens warm and away from drafts.

Holding them close to your body several times during the day will supply comfort as they can feel and hear your body movements.

This will be a full time job, but it can be done if the kittens are not ill. If any of them become lethargic, they must be taken to the vet for further care which would include antibiotics. Best Wishes
