My cat all of sudden is having trouble eating. She is pawing & her mouth and gagging. What could cause this?

I forgot to add, as the others have pointed out, obviously if the gagging and pawing of her mouth lasts for more than a minute (Doesnt settle after she chewed on it, like if we bit on a painful tooth), and she continues to gag, drool and paw at her mouth, it is clearly more than a tooth, like something stuck in her mouth, gums or throat and this would need urgent investigation. If in ANY DOUBT No harm to ring your vet, no matter what the time of day or night it is. If it is out of hours they will have a recorded message telling you who to contact during the out of hours for advice and help. There will be someone on duty somewhere to help you. : )

Hiya,
Yes this is a symptom of mouth pain in cats. This commonly is a dental problem just like when we get a painful tooth, and of course this is the best thing to hope for before panicking and thinking of all the worst case scenarios. Best thing is to get yourself to the vet. Firstly she get get your cat sorted and more comfortable. You know how painful tooth pain can be, so dont wait...get there as soon as possible. It wont fix itself.
And secondly, this will put your mind at rest. Searching the internet wont do this.
Dont worry, your vet will help you : ) You obviously love your little cat very much!
