  1. the only thing you can do is leave the mom in a quiet spot with her babies, besides, that, enjoy watching the babies grow! :)

i used to own a cattery for Hymalayen cats, so cats giving birth is a easy as breathing for me!

  2. Well for now you have a choice to either keep the kittens or give them away to families who will take care of them. For future reference, you may want to consider spaying your female cat. We had the same incident years ago and we kept some kittens and spayed the mother cat after wards. Hopes this get me 10 points. LOL

  3. you should probably put the kittens in something likee a tote so the dont crawl away and dont get the floor dirty if they are bloody.

  4. Nothing. Make sure she has plenty of access to food and water.

  5. ok watch the mum cat cos if she dos not want them she will eat  so keep a eye on her

  6. Make sure that the bed is in a dry warm place free of all drafts and greatly decreased noise and movement.

Momma probably will be very nervous of visitors.  So respect her wishes at this point.

When mom decides to start weaning them then you will need to step in and start supplementing their food.  This will probably start happening at about a month of age.  Some Moms get up and walk away never to return and some moms will come back periodically to give them a slurp or two. The best formula to feed them at this point is some stuff called KLM which is available at all good pet stores such as petsmart. When totally weaned get mom spayed please and when the kittens are 3 months old get them done also this is so very important to do.

Mom will clean up after their little potties for now but when she starts weaning them you will need to provide a litter box or two for them.

Good luck with your new little family and hope you have great luck with them.

  7. Nothing much. Just sit, watch, and enjoy. The Mumma cat will do mostly everything. Just make sure she has plenty of water and food.

  8. Just keep an eye  on mom to see if all kitten are feeding well. Give mom lot of water, good quality food and enjoy you new kittens.

If any  are long haired I'll take one.

  9. Be sure that you are feeding her high quality kitten food so that she can properly nourish her kittens.  Make sure they have a warm place, like a box with some old clean towels where mom can keep them, but get away if she wants to.

You'll want to keep an eye on them to make sure that all are eating, if you notice that the others are pushing one away, you'll have to plug that one in - by that I mean you'll have to physically take him/her and get him to suckle.

All in all, Mom will take care of the rest on her own.  If you don't plan on keeping the kittens, start looking for homes for them, they can leave Mom at 8 weeks.

  10. nothing much you can do, except keep an eye on momma and the babies while also giving them space.  otherwise momma kitty will move her kittens for privacy.

call your vet let them know your cat gave birth.  they may also have other suggestions and schedule you for them to come in for checkups and first round of shots soon.
