between 4am and 9am my persian cat had kittens. i knew it was almost time, so i check on her every morning. we found one with the sack still on it and the other, she was laying on it. it was warm, but dead. it has been soooo long since i have had kittens in my life. i was actually raised around cats, alot of cats, but its been so long i cant remember how it goes. i know not to touch them much at first. so i just made sure they were ok and left them alone. this is her first litter. and now there are 4 remaining healthy looking kittens. also her belly still feels big. is there more kittens on the way? you could answer both questions if possible. thank you.

  1. they were still born, natural even though it sounds mean

sorry about the babys  its sad

  2. She is still learning, this was her first time and she could have gotten too tired to clean all of the kittens, or it could have been that they were born dead or that she knew, as mother cats do, that the babies were not going to make it so she just left them alone.  Her belly will be big for a little while, however cats are known to sometimes have kittens sporadically.  Sometimes cats will deliver and clean 6 kittens and hours later deliver 3 more or just one, wait a couple more hours and another.  You just never know, but it would be a good idea to take her to the vet if you feel she is still carrying kittens, let him check her and the kittens.

  3. There could be any number of reasons why some of the kittens died.

They weren't healthy enough to begin with, the mother cat is a first time mother and just wasn't well prepared to handle this first litter.

It could be any number of things and the BEST answer for the questions you have would be best asked of your vet; who hopefully has a medical history on your cat.

  4. bring her to the vet. they can anwser that better than anyone on the enternet

  5. #1. An animal's first litter usually has a much higher mortality rate than subsequent litters.

#2. Her belly is big because it was stretched out carrying the kittens.

  6. Just call a veteranary clinic in your area and they will be happy to give you any tips and decide if it's necessary to bring them in.

  7. Nature is always kind, but there is usually a reason for a kitten not surviving, there was something wrong and it was not meant to be.  Be thankful she still has her 4 remaining kittens.

  9. ANSWER 1: ok so i have had two cats that had kittens this is probably what happend. the one that was still had the sac on it was probably he last born if it is still alive you should take off the sack and clean it off then take it back to the mom. for the dead one the mom layed on it by mistake she probably didn't notice it. you probably should just peek i on them at least once or twice every day because normally wih four kittens or more at least one has trouple gettting food if you see that one is not eating then pick it up and put it up to the mom.

ANSWER 2: It is possible for her to have a few more, but since she is nursing it is probably excess fluids in her belly it should get smaller in about a week.
