About a week ago I noticed my cat had a small area behing his ear where he was missing fur. The sppot is smaller than a dime. I watched him and the spot didnt get any bigger or any smaller. He scratched it once in a while but not too often so I just kept an eye on him. Now, I just got home from work and I noticed another small spot on the top of his head. What could this be? I want to take him to the Vet but I'm a college student working a part time job and paying all my own bills so I dont have the money. But If you think its something serious, I'll take him because he's my baby and I love him.

He's acting perfectly normal otherwise. He's eating, running, playing with our other cat. Im just worried it might be something serious.

  1. ring worm....you should go in and get that ruled out for your sake and his, if it is and left untreated you'll be spending ALOT when it gets outta hand

run a black light over it, if it shows reactive to the blk light...go in asap

  2. Its probably from fleas or a skin condition.

  3. Could be from fleas or even a form of dermatitis. Some humane societies offer medical help to people who can't afford veterinary care for their pets. You could check into that if there is a humane society near you.

If it's not bleeding or scabbing over, I wouldn't really worry too much.

  4. Hi, I am so sorry about this I did some searches and found this from an old anwser.. GOOD LUCK!!

  5. It could just be rough play between your cats. I find bare spots (and the evidence of the tufts of fur) on my carpet when my 3 get too rough. It could also be allergies: I friend of mine has a cat that licks herself bare because of skin irritations. The only way to be truely sure is to see the vet I'm afraid.
