Question:

My cat has a bump on her hip

My sister-in-law noticed last week when petting our cat that she has a small bump on her hip.

Since then, my husband has checked on it every day. It's neither subsided nor worsened, and it doesn't seem to bother her at all.

Whenever one of us touches it or examines it, she's just annoyed that we're holding her down... she doesn't seem to be in pain from us touching it.

The bump is about 1x2 centimeters in length/width, and it's not marble shaped... it's flat at the bottom. Because of this, I figured it was a bite at first, but because it hasn't gone down at all, I'm starting to doubt that.

Has anyone else's cat had this before, and if so, what was it/how was it treated?

  1. You need to get the vet to check on it because any abnormal growth can be bad news if not figured out the soonest possible. It could very well be just a skin tag or it could indicate a tumor. Like I said, it's hard to tell unless you get it seen by a professional. The fact that it annoys her when touched tells that it bothers her. A biopsy can be performed to find out what exactly the abnormal growth is.

  2. Yeah, next time she goes to the vet, mention it. Go to the vet ASAP if it gets worse.

  3. Is she an indoor/outdoor cat? maybe she went out and bump her hip into something like a pole or car I would take her to a doctor or do some more research on this before its gets worse.

  4. Take her to the vet
