This has been going on for a short time and there are only a few spots (neck only, no where else). I have checked her well for fleas and have ruled that out. I don't think it is serious enough, and she doesn't seem to be overly bothered by it to bring her to the vet. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

  1. i had a cat that used to scratch her neck to, and only her neck, she would scratch so bad it would be raw and leave scabs, when i asked the vet about this they said she was allergic to flea bites YIKES! i didnt find any fleas on her, but they said one could have jumped on her and bit her then found another host. im not sure what to do for it, i put a very mild layer of neosporin on it to help with the aggitation i know she had to be going through. after a couple months it went away and she never got it again, shes an inside cat, so maybe try some of that flea treatment and see how things turn out, good luck to you and your furry friend!

  2. Does she wear a collar? It could be that rubbing the wrong way.

  3. She might be allergic to something, causeing a rash. try changing cat foods and litter types. maybe shes allergic to one of them

  4. My parents cat has the same problem.  In the area where we live there is a lot of sand, which means that there are a lot of sand fleas.  You can check her and check her for fleas and not find any, but the bites are still there.  It is possible that she is getting bit by something like this, and that is causing an allergic reaction.

I would take her to the vet and have them check it out.  It doesn't sound like it's anything serious, but it's always better to be safe than sorry.

  5. maybe she got out side and got poison ivy or was it really hot out for a while it could b a heat rash or maybe she's allergic to something

  6. If she is a female, it could be possible that she was "gotten" by a male. He bites her neck and holds on while doing the dirty! Causing that wound that scabs.

  7. do you leave you cat alone alot it may be stress and she is scatching at it, i would watch it for a bit and make sure she doesnt scratch threw the skin and if it doesnt look like healing in a week best bet to take to the vet, also have you been using anything different around the house ie clothes wash, cleaning product this might also have caused it

  8. She might have an allergy to something, or maybe some bug bites that have cause her to itch them enough to get a rash.

I would take her to the vet if it gets any worse. but don't diagnose her by yourself of from what the yahoo people say.

    Hope this helps.

  9. You should take her to the vets and get it diagnosed correctly.  No guessing involved.  It could be anything from A to Z.

If you had a few bald spots on your head and even though they weren't overly bothersome to you,  wouldn't you go to the doctors to find out what could be causing this or would you ask your next door neighbor and listen to him???

    Good Luck.  Meow!!
