Thanks. The birds and mice are gross especially when you tread on leftovers in the morning! He is wormed as we know about the mites etc.

The prawn was raw completely unshelled so it was head, legs, shell and tail plus two more heads left. They were not long out of fridge and in date etc but I can confirm very tasty! We usually try to keep him on dried cat food with the occasional wet pack or tuna in spring water as a treat. Thanks for the answers - very relieved now.

  1. Generally, yes, that should be fine. You said "leftover" prawn; does this mean it was a cooked prawn from a meal? Or a partially decomposed raw prawn? If it is the former, then yes, you should be okay. If it was the latter, watch you cat for signs of stomach upsets. If she starts eating copious amounts of grass to make herself throw up, if she's having trouble passing waste, or if she just seems flat-out unhappy (pacing, panting, lethargic, loss of appetite) then take her to the vet quickly, as she might have food poisoning of sorts. A cat that is used to a wild-ish diet has a stronger stomach, but sometimes food just plain does not agree.

  2. its fine. ive had cats ever since i was little, and they all ate field mice, moles, birds, crawdads, etc. theyre natural hunters, so they can eat all that stuff and be fine. not to be gross, but i remember going on the front porch, multiple times, and seeing rodent body parts. gross i know, but i had to share!

  3. Yeah course -  my cat Tiger is always eating leftovers, they other day he ate some spaghetti bolognese, which my sister left on the side.

Your cat will be just fine, honest, don't worry xx

  4. i QUESS SO     I mean its not as if he can buy catfood from the shop He's Just doing what comes Naturally to HIM/her We used to live in Caves And hunt for Food Just like little Kitty No MTV then

  5. Not ideal.  He can get internal worm parasites from the mice, and temporarily get mites and lice from the birds.

Prawn is okay.  You would have eaten it yourself, right?

  6. of course it is no worries. cats can pretty much eat anything they can catch.

  7. of course its fine, if it didnt agree with him he would throw up, but it wouldn make him ill, he could get much worse things from birds and mice, like worms! i dont see why you're worrying.

  8. are you aware of the diseases and filth that field mice carry and can transmit to your cat?

  9. He might be having an upset stomach soon. You might want to take him outside so that he can eat some grass so he can throw up and get it out of his system.

  10. Yes its okay, they have strong stomachs which they need, and can eat pretty much anything which is edible.

  11. I dont see why it would not be okay. Cats are natually carnivores (meat eaters) and have the ability to digest things (such as bones from small animals or the shell from a prawn) that people cannot. Don't worry. He should be fine. Prawns... lucky cat!
