My cat has an eye sore, what do i do?

About two months ago my cat had a little scab next to his eye. Now it is almost the size of a quarter. Its fleshy and bloody. It seems like it gets bigger everyday. I cant afford to take him to the vet but I'm afraid that if I don't it will get worse. Plus I don't know if it hurts him or not. I'm almost to the point of taking him to an animal hospital and telling them I found him in my yard. I'm sure they will take care of him. I love my cat but if it means giving him away to get him better, I'm willing to do that. But will the vet fix him or just put him down? I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

Maybe you could try calling the local Humane Society in your area, tell them your situation, and see if they have affordable exams?

go to the vet she might be infected!!!! she might need antibiotics, so get medical help, and fast! hope ur kitten feels better! =3

Your cat probably just needs some special ointment added to the eye.  Tell the vet your financial situation and see if some payment plan can be worked out.

Hi, In every state they SHOULD HAVE, low cost, for pets. Which means that there is a place in your state that has a hospital or clinic where if you can't afford the expense they will help you. In the mean time, just use your common sense you were born with and think if you had a sore by your eye and it got bigger, wouldn't you go to a doctor? I am not being a smart ***, I am just trying to explain the best and simplest way I know how. Also if you can't find that place I mentioned then take your cat to the nearest vet and after he fixes your baby, tell him you are kind of poor, and would he except payments..I am sure he/they will. If you are letting your cat out STOP, because it may be infected now and if you let him out he may get in a fight and then it may be hopeless. In the meantime, clean off this sore with a wash cloth and some warm water. then Mix a little Peroxide and water and then use the wash cloth again on the sore I did this to my cat and I also used Alcohol & water mixed so you can use either mix, this way it's not full strenght so it won't burn him. You need to keep that clean..

Get your kitty checked out as soon as you can. Your vet won't put him down either. No doctor will do that unless it's a life threatening situation or a very bad illness. So, rest assured, he won't put kitty down. He'll just give him medication to get his eye better.

The vet can give you the proper medication for you to apply.  I wonder if the cat might need spaying at the same time to curtail his wandering at night looking for trouble.  Otherwise he's going to continue to get beat up.  Discuss with doc.  Good luck.
