  1. is kitten trying to nurse? is she bothering mom?

moms can get rough with weaning, if the kitten wont leave mom alone.

it is moms job to teach him to care for himself, some moms take that job very seriously.

i had a cat once that just couldnt be bothered with weaning, when it was time, she would belt the kitten in the head when it tried to nurse. send it in 360's across the floor.

kitten was weaned. they never tried to nurse again.

  2. He has brought home the smell from the vets and mama doesn't like it.  Take a towel and rub the kitten then rub mama with the same towel to transfer the smell.  She is not sure who he is and is probably afraid of him.

  3. She smells the vet on the cat and it is scaring her.  Use a towel and transfer the scent of the mother cat to the baby.  That will help some.
