  1. Cruel as it sounds, it's probably gonna die anyway. Even if the cat hasn't killed it yet, it carried it arround for a bit. I read something about this topic a while back and don't quite recall everything, but I think there's something on cats' teeth that paralyzes animals and makes them die sooner or later anyway. Sort of like a poison (nowhere near as strong though). Or it might have hurt it in a way that's not obvious, but will still kill it.

  2. Your cat wishes to impress you with the fine gift it has brought you.

The correct solution is to eat the sparrow, and leave whatever portion you don't eat for your cat to finish.

  3. I recommend contacting a wildlife center in your state, they may be able to take her in, or give you advice on how to care for her.

Check with veterinarians in your area. Some don't know a lot about wildlife, but they may know of someone who does.

    Good luck!

  4. take it to a wildlife center or just let your cat eat it.  There is a lot that goes into taking care of a baby bird and if you don't know what the crop is where it is and how to know when its full and not to over fill it and what to feed then its going to die anyways.

  5. I know it is sad, but it is in their nature.

  6. Not much really, don't scold the cat because it's his nature to catch what he considers to be food and even the most subversive and cute cats are by nature merciless killers, if the sparrow's still alive then try to see if it's not injured and contact some bird sanctuary who will give you some advice in what to do although, if it's a week old as you think ,it will probably be unable to fly, your cat is being very loyal to you as don't forget, he is prepared to share his food with you so he must love you very much, I hope the sparrow suvives.

  7. please find a wildlife rehabilitator to help the baby bird.

  8. Find  a wildlife rehabilitation organization near you.  Any time a cat has had any small animal in it's mouth it must take antibiotics for infection.  Even if it appears like it was not injured by the cat, it must be given antibiotics or it will get sick and die three days later.  Many times a wildlife rehabilitator will pick up an animal if you have no transportation.

Baby birds need special diets and must be raised with there own kind to be successfully released back into the wild. The parents feed their babies every 20 minutes from sun up to sundown, so it is important you get the bird to a rehabber as soon as possible.

Your cat either has found the nest or happened upon nestlings hiding in shrubs on the ground while they learn to fly.   There might be as many four other little babies hiding in the bushes learning to fly while parents still feed them.  Be  sure to keep your cat inside or the next few days at least.

Until you reach a wildlife rehabilitator,  Keep the baby warm in shoebox with a soft towel. If you  have a heating pad put in on low under half the box.  Place the box in a safe quet place ( away from your cat beause I hope he is in the house).  You can soak some dry dog or cat food in hot water until it is warm and soft. Small pieces of scramled eggs are ok too.  Then feed the baby small bites if he begs for food.  A drop of water off your finger tip is ok too. No dropers because you can easily kill a baby bird with too much water. They have a hole on their tongue that goes directlyinto their lungs.  They will gasp and die if water goes down that hole.  The best solution is to find a wildlife rehabilitator.

  9. first off all dont give out to the cat u have to show apprication the cat is giving u a gitf thinking is providing food if i shout or give out the cat may turn off u for good

  10. I know it sounds ridiculous, but you're supposed to congratulate the cat. Seriously. It's natural instinct to bring back a present for the owner. They aren't trying to be horrible. My cat does it all the time.

As for the bird, just let it go. There's nothing you can really do. If it dies, it dies.

  11. Either give it to a professional, or kill it quickly and humanely.

Unfortunately, chances are, it's going to die anyhow. Small birds are rubbish at dealing with stress.

  12. take it in. keep it. when it's grown, take it 2 a wildlife center.
