Im making an appointment to bring him in to the vet tommorrow, But I want to know what you think. It started with one small spot behind his ear. Then there was another one on the top of his head a few days later, and today there are are two more larger spots on his upper back. What could this be??? Im very worried. I looked at the one on his ear the other day and there is a small scab on it. Tiny, like a pin point. Please what could this be?? other than that hes acting normal.

  1. My Aunty's cat had the same problem, something to do woth his saliva was making fall out in patches, or it could be stress or could be constipated...

  2. It can be a few different things. Hard to say without seeing it.

    1. Self traumatic scratching or l*****g can cause hair loss and scabs. Check for fleas.

    2. Depending on what the skin looks like, could be ringworm. It doesnt always carry the same ring like charactersitics in cats that we are used to seeing in humans. And it does not spread to different spots on them where they make contact. which means that if you touch its ear with your finger, you could still end up with it on your shoulder. It doesnt spread the way you think it does. So just wash up after handling to be on the safe side.

    3. Some sort of allergy. More likely to food by your description. Had any food changes lately? and sometimes they can just develop food allergies, doesn't have to be new food. But there is always a possibility of contact allergies too. Any new cleaning products in the house?

    4. What do his ears look like? They can do damage with those back feet if they have an ear infection or ear mites. and they dont only do it to their ears, wherever those back legs can reach will do. can all those spots be reached by the back legs?

Its good that he is going to the vet. They will have a better idea probably just by looking at it. They may ask to run bloodwork to rule out any kind of endocrine problems. Bloodwork is NEVER a bad idea. But they will most likely only want that if they think it could be attributed to some disease.

Hope its something simple, good luck.

  3. awww poor Tippers!

  4. hmm he could have a certain type of flea/parasite that he is allergic to

  5. my cat has the same thing but only on his thigh and right above his tail. He doesn't have fleas. I found out he's over grooming himself to the point where he's been pulling out his hair. It will grow back and then my step daughter will come for a weekend and he will have a bald patch again. It's stress related..lol

  6. OH MY! Did you give him a bath or take him to the groomer recently or do you have a younger sibling or child that could have possibly put some type of perfume or something on the cat because i once took my dog to the groomers and they left some shampoo on her so she picked at her skin and her hair fell off, It freaked me out at first.

    Hope That Helped
