My cat has what looks like a blood blister where one of his whiskers was?

It looks to be in the same place as where one of his whiskers would grow from, it almost looks shiny and black and to be honest at first I thought it was a really large flea,(he hasn't got fleas though) so i got the flea comb out and that's when I realised it wasn't.

He is well in himself and not swollen or in pain, Should I leave it and for how long before I take him to the vet.

  1. sounds like it has been caught or pulled out by something give it till after the week end and if still worried phone up the vet first?

  2. A blood blister is probably nothing to worry about unless it begins to look infected or seems to be bothering him.  If it's truly black and you thought it was a flea, you might want to take him to a vet to make sure it's not a tick.

  3. Are you sure it isn't a tick?  They look shiny & black.

If it IS a tick it will grow for a while then drop out - you could try to remove it but as you are not sure what it is it may be an idea to leave it alone for a couple of days.

  4. could be a blocked sebaceous gland. Cats can get acne like humans when their pores are blocked. Look up feline acne on the internet and compare pictures with your cats ailment .Give your vet a call and describe what you can see, he/she will be able to advise if you need to take you cat in
