  1. just sit and watch. It can take hours for birthing. This is from the website below.  They don't mention not touching the kittens because the mother might not recognize their scent and kill them.

In general, it may take up to six hours for a queen to give birth to all her kittens. The first kitten should arrive within an hour of the start of active labor, and subsequent kittens will take anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes. She will rest for 15 minutes or so between kittens, and during this time she should be allowed to nurse and clean the kittens that have been born. If you have been keeping the kittens in another box, move them back with the mother cat and help them find a nipple. This is also a good time for you to offer her food or a sip of KMR or plain, unflavored yoghurt. Although in rare cases a healthy kitten is born after the seven hour period, you should take the queen and her kittens to the vet for a checkup once seven hours passes and you are sure there are other kittens inside.

If it is dead coming out it was dead in the womb so don't worry about it. Still birth. Just watch. Look at the yahoo answer below. the first kitten was still birth the others were fine. If it is her first litter watch she doesn't kill the other ones.

  2. Hi Chris,

This is normal Dear. Cats and dogs are in labor for hours. It could be 2 to 3 hours before she has another kitten, just watch and if she does run into problems and you don't know what to do,called your vet and tell him what is happening and he will advice you on what to do.Congrats new mommy.

  3. If you feel you can't handle the situation call your vet and see what they tell you.  They could at least tell you what you can expect and calm your fear.  Good Luck and I am sorry you had to go through such an ordeal!

  4. watch and hope for the best! i pray for you!

  5. Just be patient and keep close to her, kittens can take a lot of hours to be born, and can be born hours apart!!!
