Ok, this is probably normal cat behaviour, running around like a pschyo every night, bouncing on chairs and couches. Is this normal behaviour or do we have to send her to the funny farm or anything?

Second, she molts like nothing I've ever seen before. There is cat hair everywhere, from in the meals (seriously), to chairs, carpet, tiles. We brush/hoover her daily, but nothing works. We can't leave the cat outside since she's deaf and won't hear a car coming, so what can be done?

  1. First thing, all cats are nocturnal so it is normal for her to run around at night while you are sleeping. Since I'm not working right now I try to keep her from sleeping during the day so she can sleep during the nights with us. You may want to try this on weekends if you work during the week.

Second thing, have you taken your cat to get spade. Maybe she's in heat and you don't know it.

Last, about the shedding here are some things that you can do to help with the shedding.

    1) Feed your cat high quality food. You can prevent a lot of the shedding by feeding your cat a premium brand of cat food. There are several varieties on the market today to choose from. These types of food have better digestible protein sources than lower priced brands, which will control the shedding more.

    2) Groom the cat regularly. You should use either a cat brush or comb (or both) to groom your cat. It is suggested to this daily or as often as you can weekly. If you start this process when the cat is a kitten, it will become a regular routine that you can easily accomplish. Most cats enjoy the attention, the actually brushing and the close interaction with you that can create a special bonding with your cat. Another product in this area is “spray on” cat bathing kits. These products often have conditioners and protein in them to fortify the hair of your cat.

    3) Give your cat supplements. There are several types of cat supplements available to aid in the prevention of cat shedding. These supplements have special vitamins, minerals and Omega fatty acids. There are health benefits from giving the supplements to your cat too, since these supplements strengthen the hair.

    4) Cover your cat's sleeping areas. An easy way to manage cat hair is to lay blankets, towels, throws (or alike) on all of your cats favorite places. These can be easily removed when you have visitors and washed often to keep a handle on your cats shedding. It is also a good idea to vacuum regularly to remove unwanted hair from carpets, floors, upholstery, curtains and other places it collects.

    5) Check your cat’s health on a regular basis. You should have your cat checked by a veterinarian on a set schedule for any health issues. A veterinarian can diagnose problems that could be affecting your cats skin or hair and prescribe treatment for them. You should also ask any questions you might have concerning how to keep cats from shedding.

Hope I helped in something and don't take her to the "funny farm".

You could take her for walks to burn some of energy off also.

  4. Cats are strange like that. Even my geriatric cat will bolt into the house on occasion acting like she has a bee in her bum. If it is still kitten age, completely normal. Heck, it is normal in general.

You can take your cat to the groomer to get her shaved. Some people do that in summer so your cat doesn't overheat. We do it to our Calico Persian because she doesn't take great care of her fur and gets these giant burrs. Even when we brush her everyday! She also tries to bite us when we brush her.
