My cat keeps eating plants around the house and vomiting later. Not only is she NOT learning from the vomiting to not eat these; but aren't cats PURE carnivores?

  1. Your cat could be eating plants in your house that are poisonous to cats.  Some examples of plants that are poisonous to cats are:  Aloe Vera, Asparagus Fern, Baby's Breath, Any type of Lilly, Geraniums, Morning Glory, Oleander.  Check online to see find a list of plants that cats are allergic to.

  2. Ahh!! And my hermit crab is a clam!

    This is awesome!

  3. All cats eat grass, they try to settle their stomachs with it, but some just eat and barf. It's a cat thing, and a dog thing, dogs do it too.

Wheat grass, grown and available at the health food store is what some owners give their cats. Mine can eat 3 blades and be ok,but more than three an they're throwing it up in five minutes.

Yes, they're carnivores, but they do chew on plants, especially grass-like ones.

  4. Maybe They're Playing With It ..

    what do Feed It?

  5. cats eat plants to MAKE them vomit. There are two main reasons a cat will do this

    1. Cats l**k themselves, cats collect hair in their stomachs, cats get hairballs. Eating grass and other plants helps them throw up these hairballs and clear their stomachs. If your cat sheds a lot, brush her daily to limit the amount of fur she is intaking during her self grooming sessions. this should hopefully help eliminate the problem.

    2. like most other animals (carnivorous animals, like dogs, wolves, etc), if a cat has an upset stomach, it will usually eat grass to help calm its stomach and throw up. Take a look at the foods you are feeding her. Maybe they are poor quality. Maybe she is having an allergic reaction. Eatin plants and throwing up is a big sign that something is wrong with her stomach

  6. Cats are bulimics when it comes to plants.  Dogs too.  No, she won't learn.  You can get some kitty grass, spray the house plants with bitter apple spray (from the pet store), squirt her with a water bottle when you catch her, etc.  You'll probably lose the battle anyway.  :)

DO look up your houseplants to make sure they're not poisonous to cats.  Here is a link: http://www.cfainc.org/articles/plants.ht...

BTW, if you do grow kitty grass, make absolutely sure it doesn't mold or the cat can get very sick.

  7. your cat has a upset stomach, doing that to induce vomiting, get some vet care or try catnip grass they love it, but please get your plants away lots of plants are very very poisonous

  8. Most cats eat grass to soothe an upset stomach. If this is all the cat can find maybe she is mistaking it for regular grass. Try putting her outside when you catch her and maybe she will eat the grass.
