Hi. I have a pregnant stray cat that I brought in tuesday night. I'm not sure how far along she is but she's HUGE. The babies are constantly moving, and I can see them moving by just looking at her stomach. I think they'll come any day..but last night her nipples got really pink and erect. Do you think that means they'll be coming soon? How soon? I'm impatient. And any advice for me while i'm helping her deliver? Don't worry, she'll be spayed after this litter!

  1. No medications intell the babies are born. They could be dangerous to the babies helth so not yet but the babies should be coming with in this week or so. Andy time soon cant wait to see the pictures.

  2. My advice- Call someone that you know in the area that has delivered kittens, or CALL A VET. Call an emergency vet line. Don't risk anything.

Last of all, stay calm and the process is AMAZING to watch. Please update me on what happens with the babies :)

Dont forget- call a vet :)

  3. Cats usually do not need help with delivery. It is best to make her a bed in a quiet, hidden place and let her be. You can check on her periodically and make sure she is ok but she may get stressed out having people around, especially being a stray

  4. She is ready and will probably go within the next few days, if not sooner!  My advice, is to lock her in a dark, secluded closet where she is left alone and can feel secure.  Don't really try to help, she will give birth and clean everything up herself with no help.  Don't give her any medication right now.  Now, when you get her spayed, make sure her milk has dried up, as they doctors might accidentally cut a milk vein while performing the surgery.  Try to leave her alone as much as possible, cat's don't give birth until they are sure they will be undisturbed.  Also, be careful because cats can hold babies for an extra 24 hours if they are interrupted during labour.

I had my cat in for two days, and finally I locked her in my closet with her basket, food water and litter.  She had the kittens within 12 hrs. of my keeping her secluded.

Good Luck!  and Have fun with your kittens!! --Mannus

  5. If the babies are moving and the nipples are turning pinker, I would say the babies are coming in a 5-6 weeks or 1-2 month (S.) If you don't know you should go a vet doctor and ask that question. Say everything that's happening. How old is your cat?

  6. You'll know she will start looking for quite place to have them. But do have a box ready in a quite place. Make sure if you have kids keep them at distance. Mama cat knows what to do.

  7. For a first timer, you may want to contact your vet on information on what to do and get her taken in quickly so the vet can check her over.

  8. What are the signs of labour?

About 24 hours prior to going into labour your cat may become restless, uninterested in food and begin making a "nest". Her v***a may be swollen and have a clear mucous discharge.

Abdominal contractions will then commence, the queen will strain and the first kitten should be born within 1 to 2 hours. The placental membrane often ruptures ("breaking of the waters") prior to the kitten being born but is not always the case and some kittens are born completely covered in their membranes.

  9. Hi, congrats first of all... Your cat will probley deliver at any time now my cat just had babies well they are 4 weeks old now hard to believe they are so darn cute... sorry....anyway i knew the day my cat was gonna have them because she was very lovey and she kept coming by me and i always was check in out here private part cause the get like swollen and you kinda see the mucus plug thingy....  she doesn't need to be hidden away as long as it's not loud and another thing the babies move around alotttttt when they are ready to pop out.... and my cat kept laying on her side and they give these meows that don't sound very lady like (ha ha ha) it's just there nervousness i guess. this is the 2nd time my cat delivered the first she didn't get the sak off the 2nd ones nose real quick so i felt i had to dtay up and wait it out with her so i had a rubber glove on and just wiped the mucus away from the eys and nose and kept like moving there butt kinda like a little push just to make sure they are like getting into the motion you know what i mean... good luck any troubles e-mail me i will be glad to chat i am on here til all hours kim37059@yahoo.com thats my yahoo answer one

  10. She will deliver just FINE when the time comes, so be patient.

Enjoy the moment of new life into the world.

  11. Keep her in side in a nice warm place let her sit on a cushion, Let her be as relaxed as possible. Maybe let her sleep in your room, and let her have a natural birth.

  12. funny u should ask this cause i myself just took in a stray about a week ago and she had kittens in my garage...... welll first relaxe just give the cat lots of love if she will let u also give her food and water.....the next thing u need to do is take a box and make sure it has high Walls around it and cover the bottom with lots and lots of blankets  this way she will feel comfortable to have her babies in there. and if milk is discharging from her nipples the babies should come in 24 hours maybe a little more........ when she is in labor just watch dont touch or try and touch her they have a motherly instinct and will do it fine.....if any of the kittens are still born remove them immediately....after birth dont hadle the kittens too too much kinda just let them do there thing..... you do though want to watch and make sure that all of the kittens are feeding about every hour to two hours........if u see them not feeding than go out and buy bottels and cat milk and hand feed them yeah it is alot of work since u have to do it every hour but it is worth it...... they have to stay with there mother for 12 weeks and just let them do there thing by week 2 than u can play with them more and more.......if u dont plan on keeping alll cats than call a NON-KILL shelter and they will pick them up after 12 weeks.........(also make sure u have a kitty liter box for the mom and the babys when the time comes)........ make sure u get CLAY litter cause if u get the  clumping kind the babies will eat it and die.......also change the sheats in the box everyday ...............i hope i helped you and good luck if i helped you could u please email me at caseycas103@yahoo.com thankyou....................
