Question:

My cat is driving me crazy!?

I have a 3 year old female cat. She was fixed when she was little and is an indoor cat. Just recently she began to meow and moan all night long. I make sure to feed her right before bed, make sure her water dish is full and even check on her litter box. She just keeps doing it. I have even gotten up in the middle of the night to give her a snack, but 5 minutes later she is back at it again. I've gotten her toys and tried wearing her out before bed. She is fine and playful during the day, and if i take a daytime nap she is perfectly well behaved. It only seems to happen when the lights are out and I'm lying down. Help!

  1. Take her to the vet. If the infernal racket is not curable you have two options a)You take a strong sedative and sleep all night, b) take the cat to the ASPCA and hope someone adopts her.

  2. the cat probably doesn't like the dark or has a hard time finding her way through the house

  3. CHRIS J IS AN IDIOT.  NEVER....NEVER GIVE A CAT, HUMAN MEDICINE UNLESS YOUR VET APPROVES IT.

BOOMER IS RIGHT ON THE MONEY!!!  NIGHT TIME IS A CATS PLAYTIME. SHE PROBABLY SEES OTHER CATS WANDERING AROUND THE HOUSE AT NIGHT AND WANTS TO EITHER DEFEND HER TERRITORY OR PLAY.

ANOTHER BUDDY IS A GREAT IDEA !!!

  4. This might sound kind of silly, and I can't honestly remember it ever happening to me (I've had cats all my life, and I'm twice the legal drinking age), but I would suggest trying a night light before any expensive solutions.

As long as it's not something she does all the time, it's probably not physical. If a cat is sick, turning the lights on is not going to make it go away. That only works with shadows and "monsters under the bed".

If that doesn't work, then I would check with an expert (or two or three... it's always nice to get a consensus).

  5. That was the same with our cat. We eventually brought her to the Vet (Although she is like 8 or 9) and we found that she has a hyperthyroid. And she was eating like a horse but losing weight. Bring her to the vet, there could be something wrong.

    Good luck

  6. try getting her a buddy, sounds like she is lonely

  7. she probably wants to play with you.or there could be something wrong with her eyes my grandmas cat did the same and the vet told her that it had a problem with its eyes where it couldnt see in the dark properly,i hope i helped

  8. When my cat did something similar I got her a friend and she stopped.  I figured it was just because she had become lonely.

  9. Either she is afriad of the dark, lonley, or is a spoiled kitty thats wants constant attention. Mabe she needs a playmate kittyboy! That will keep her busy while your sleep.

  10. it sounds like she misses you. bring her to bed with you let her sleep at the foot of your bed. if nothing else works. nyquil.
