My cat is drooling and smells terrible, along with acting very strange. What's wrong with him?

My cat was gone for over a day and when he returned he was acting very strange. He acted like he wanted water so I gave him fresh water and he licked it and walked away. After this I realized he smelled horrid like a rotten animal. When he meowed it sounded very deep and strange. When he walked he looked as if he were drunk. While laying on the couch, I seen he had drool of some sort coming from his mouth. He's been sleeping since and then and I think he may have rabies. Can anyone help me?

You need to take him to the emergency vet ASAP!! He could have been poisoned or it could be rabies. Either way your cat is very sick and needs to see a vet!!!

Sounds like he may have been poisoned or injured! Take him to the vet ASAP!

This is considered a vet emergency.  Poison, head trauma, I'd suspect both of these before I'd even think of rabies (if you vaccinated him against rabies he can't have it. Rabid cats can't swallow or eat, so that would be a major sign but the other things you said don't jive with rabies).

Get him in to the emergency and have him seriously checked over.  None of this is normal and if it was my cat we'd already be in the car and gone.
