Okay my cat absolutely hates baths. Lately, he has been laying in the bathtub, and he has been playing in there. Sometimes he goes through phases of where he likes to hide at, is this just another phase? i think it is so wierd.

  1. My cat adores the bathtub.  I think it's a pretty common cat thing.

  2. lol my cat always goes and lays in the bathtub after someone showers but thats because he likes water...it might just be that hes found a new place to play and hide at...maybe he likes the way it feels cool or something

  3. My cat likes to hang out in there because the surface of the shower is cool & it gets really hot here.  He also likes to drink any water that may drip from the faucet.

  4. Is it warm in your house or where you are at?

Sometimes cats take refuge in sinks and tubs to get cool.  The Porcelain  or other material that makes up the tub often don't conduct heat and stay cool when its warm.  Also cats will play in them because they think they are hiding behind the side of the tub.  2 of my cats will chase each other around the tub and hop in an out.  Often they are smooth, and the slide in them.  I think that my cats think its fun and get a thrill from it.

As long as your cat is healthy, active, and eating well with no major behavioral changes, let him be a weirdo and have fun.  If he starts to exhibit behavior that worries you, then you may want to get him checked out.

But if I had to guess, he like to play there, and its probably cooler!

  5. My cats do the same thing. Your cat probably likes laying there.

  6. my cat also does that. i think he does that because its cooler in the tub.

  7. He probably just hangs out in there because its a good hiding spot and nobody bothers him in there. Thats where my cats like to lay because we have a dog.

  9. It's summer, and your cat wears a fur coat year round.  Sometime the bathtub is cooler when it's hot out.

  10. Cats are weird and this is likely just another phase. Bathtubs can be fun forts with the curtain and everything. If it really bothers you, try leaving half an inch of water in it. He'll be so unhappy when he tries to play in there that he probably won't do it again.

  11. mabey he feels dirty and he wants you to give him a bath

    lol

  12. Cats go through phases just like humans do!

There is a few things your cat might be turning to the bathtub.

1-With his fur, the bath is cool because of the material and because the water in it cools it.

2- He may like the security of a place where it is his place (so he thinks) and not a lot of people go sit in the bathtub.

3- He may like the quiet and non busy place of the house.

4-He may think its a fun fort, including all the bath soaps, shampoos, (maybe bath toys), and that little thing some people scrub there body with.

5- If you go to the bathtub to relax then he might see that and try it, cats follow after their owners.

6- He may like the dripping water from the shower and stuff.

Well, I think it's cute and don't forget to take pics!

  13. It could be maybe he has dicovered that the bathtub is not always a threatening place and has decided it's fun to hang out in there.  Sometimes cats are a bit strange...but I'm sure you already knew that.  I would say as long as he is not using it as a litter box he's probably just fine.  Sometimes when they p**p or pee in strange places it indicates they are having a problem and are trying to tell you something is wrong.
