Question:

My cat is having eye problems, sneezing.?

Her left eye is watering and she is sneezing. What could be causing this?

  1. From what your describing she could be getting an upper respiratory infection.  These are usually viral but can sometimes have a secondary bacterial component.  To be on the safe side, I would recommend taking her to your vet for an exam.  In the meantime, make sure she is eating and drinking, make sure her nose is clean (doesn't have tons of gunk on it from sneezing) and keep her away from other cats as URI can be contagious.


  2. It was recommended by my vet to give them Lysamine. Since I recently have been dealing with URI in two new kittens I got and the older one now has an eye infection she suggested this to help. She said to give the older cat 500 mg twice a day and the kitties 250 twice a day. She stated it helps with issues like that since it is an amino acid and based on the research I have done there are a lot who recommned it. I purchased a bottle at Wal Mart and just crush it up and mix with some wet food.

  3. Your cat may be allergic to something in your house or outside.  In any case a visit to its vet may be in order.
