  1. Well, i myself have an irritable bowel kitty. Levi has always had diarrhea also, and i too have spent money to put him on all sorts of medications. Antibiotics don't work, but i invested in a sensitive system cat food/digestive care and it seemed to help him be able to control it better. Also, try feeding your kitty yogurt. Sometimes they love plain yogurt, and like people, the cultures can help too! My vet actually prescribed Levi Imodium (pet dosage, of course) which helped him to p**p less with a little more form. I guess it made it more manageable, but naturally this is only a temporary fix.

Levi every once in a while goes through 2 or 3 days of leaking p**p for no apparent reason, so what i do is put him in a room with no rugs or like in our cement basement where it makes for easy cleanups until the threat passes.

I guess i would just suggest keeping trying out some antibiotics if you haven't, de-worming if you haven't, and trying a new digestive care food. Also, kitties have very sensitive hind ends, and if there is constantly p**p, it wouldn't hurt to take a soft rag or wet Kleenex and keep the area clear of p**p. The cleaner they feel, the less they l**k and the less irritated it gets. No one likes a chapped a$$!

You said your kitty is drinking, but remember you get dehydrated when the motility of your intestines is too fast and you can't absorb ample amounts of water. Kitties with diarrhea always need to have lots of water to make up for the loss.

I hope these suggestions help your kitty to feel better! And don't forget, lots of kitties are special needs irritable bowel kitties, you aren't alone! If it gets to be too difficult for you, and you aren't willing to keep caring for your kitty because of this, i'm sure someone else would be willing to adopt him in case you ever consider putting him down because of it.

  2. Again, if you can't afford the vet (which happens too much, as there's no Medicaid for pet owners), goto sites like this and get the appropriate medicine...

Here for example is appropriate medicine for diarrhea for cats...

Get a few extra for emergencies.

[Don't want to spam sites about pet supplies, but in this instance for pet owners who don't know, it's appropriate. You can find many of the same supplies at farm and seed stores in your own locale. The internet is also your friend on how to figure dosages for antibiotics and treating the underlying causes for diarrhea -- search about feral colony management as there's many tips on treating the most common ailments].

But if you can afford it, DO get kitty to the vet (the above is no substitute for professional care, it's a bandaid until you can afford treatment again). In your case, it sounds more like your kitty needs special lab tests to narrow down the bacteria/virus that causing the diarrhea in the first place. This info is to save and protect kitties who'd otherwise suffer because of the lack of serious money, but not love. Do what you can to help kitties, even if you're cash shy.

  3. man that is funny!

  4. You need to go to the vet again!

  5. thats awful, and thank you so much for taking the time to look after your cat :) you are an amazing person.

we have a cat that is very similar. the most important thing is what you FEED your cat. we realized that there was an ingredient in his food that was causing the diarhea, because he had a sensitive stomache. store brand cat food is full of corn, wheat, etc. which are used as fillers. try feeding him food that does not have wheat and corn in it, but one that has RICE! We chose a brand called Natural Choice, which not only has just rice as a main filler but lots of meat and veggies and vitamins, etc. it even says specifically on the bag that it's good for their digestion. I strongly suggest you try it :) You can also try Innova brand cat food. also, if you feed wet food don't feed him too much! perhaps a fork or two but thats it ;) good luck with your cat and I wish you all the best :)

  6. haha..

  7. if you *** was leaking i'm pretty sure you would see a doctor regardless the cost. If you wanted a cheap pet you should have gotten a goldfish.
