Lol I'm curious. Out of all the people in my home, my cat, Pickles, only seems to bother with me and practically ignores every other person in the house.

He's nearly 2 years old, and has NEVER been mis-treated in his life - we are strongly against that. We originally got him from a farm where his mother gave birth to about 5 kittens and if we had not have taken him, he would have been just let out into the wild...

When he first came, he used to nearly always bother with my mother. But ever since about last September, he seems to be always with me and not with anyone else. If i go to the toilet, he sits on the floor in front of me and waits to be stroked. When i go to bed he walks all over me before going to sleep under my bed - always under my bed, never anywhere else. If i move to another room, he is nearly always behind me. If my mother tried to stroke him, he moves away from her and comes straight to me. She has never done anything harmful to him and i know that for a fact.

I do not know what is so special with me lol. Don't get me wrong, i love the fact that he feels safe and secure when he is around me but why me? Lol

Oh, and last year, he used to pee on my bed nearly every week and in my shoes, but that has since stopped and he uses his litter practically always, except he does pee in peoples shoes sometimes but NEVER mine... :D

  1. I know what this is all about... only I have 2 cats that do it.  If I use the bathroom they both come in and watch me, if I don't let them in then they scratch and claw at the carpet behind the closed door.  One cat follows me all over the house, the other bothers me at night, they take turns...

One cat my husband calls my shadow, she even lies down on the floor behind my feet and has to touch me with her paw or tail when I'm cooking, being stepped on a zillion times has not changed this.  She also comes up to bed with me when I go, and she will lie on my stomach as I'm reading, then when I turn the lights off, she goes to the foot of the bed and sleeps with me ALL NIGHT LONG!

I feed them, I take care of them, and I'm home the most, so I'm guessing that's why.  They only pay attention to my husband if I ignore them (sometimes you're just not in the mood to entertain the cats)...  If you take care of your cat the most, this could be why.  You're the provider. Enjoy the love. :o)

  2. Pets tend to be friendlier to the person who feeds them...duh...its obviously you!

  3. Because ur cat is so used to u maybe if u go somewere hire one of ur frends to take care of him/her mayb him/her will get used to other people

  4. You might want to do some research into his breed. Some breeds of cats attach themselves to one person (such as Siamese), while other types are sociable to many. That is just the way they are. =)

Do you feed him at night? Are you the one he sees during most of the day time? These are just two of the main reasons a cat attaches himself to one human.

If you want him to start paying attention to other members of the house hold, suggest having them help in his care duties. Have somebody else feed him at night for a week, or you could also sit down with somebody else, put him between the both of you, and give him some TLC. If you do this, he may very well associate the other person with love and kindness too.

Best of luck! He sounds like sweetie =D

  5. he's just taking turns with all the family members. before you know it, he will start ignoring you and go back to your mom or some other family member. Mine do this all the time. Take turns on who they will love on and ignore the rest.

  6. He just loves you. I hope you're honored because that is a very specail thing. Maybe you can go in your room while your family spends time with him.

  7. I can relate to this!  I have three cats and the youngest is rather obsessed with me also.  He was an inside cat and when we got him I was recovering from an accident so was home with him for the first 3-4 months of his life.  Now that he must go outside when I go to work it's like he's going through seperation anxiety- apparently he sits on the fence crying all day (or so the neighbours tell me!)  I find that male cats tend to bond with you a lot better than a female- a lot of female cats can be rather aloof.

When I am home, I can't go anywhere without him knowing where I am!  If I go to the toilet he's scratching on the door, if I go into another room and he doesnt notice me leave he cries and runs around the house looking for me.  If I cuddle one of my other cats on my lap he has to jump up and push them off so that he can be on my lap.

He's almost 1 now, but sometimes I've learnt that cats just get attached to you!  Pickles loves you and wants to be with you, you must treat him very very well.
