Question:

My cat is peeing blood??

Last night I noticed that my cat had peed on the tile floor, and it was mostly blood! I then noticed blood spots on the floor in other places. He's a 7 year old, pretty chunky otherwise healthy male. He's still eating, drinking and playing like usual, but I know that blood is never good.

I KNOW that he needs to see a vet, and I have an appointment this afternoon. Meanwhile, I'm worried sick and wondering if anyone has seen this before and knows what may be causing it? Is this serious/life threatening? Help!

  1. Could be a sign of a serious tract infection get him to the vet

  2. Sounds like a urinary tract infection. As long as he is being seen by a vet today and gets treatment, he should be fine. It could be life-threatening if you did nothing.

  3. If you haven't already decided to, take the cat to the vet.  Most likely it's an infection but it could also be some internal trauma.  Either way, he needs to be seen.

  4. maybe it is a girl?

  5. aww baby has a UTI poor little baby. He will be alright

  6. It may be a urinary tract infection.  He could be straining to go.  Doubt that it's life threatening.  You did the right thing making an appointment at the vet.

  7. shes having her period congradualations

  8. could b some kind of infection. my cat had some urinary problem, but i dont remember if there was blood. his problem was that he couldnt pee cuz the food he was eating did sth that prevented him from being able to pee anymore. good call taking him to the vet. h**l tell u wats wrong and wat to do.

  9. If you find blood in the urine, this could be a sign of bladder cancer. Normally, if you (or an animal) has bladder cancer, blood is only found in the worse stages, and it may not be treatable. I am sorry, but you may have to put your cat down. If it is not cancer, it could be a bad infection, that is treatable. Your cat will most likely not die, but it could be put through a lot of pain, and the best thing to do then , would be to put it down.

I am sorry about your cat.

    I hope he gets better.

  10. Are you sure he's male? :D

  11. r u sure its a male? might b period if girl or your cat might might have a problem with her kidneys

  12. i know your worried and im sorry if this makes you mad, but i couldn't help think "jeez thats gross"

  13. Well, if it's a bit of blood dripping out afterwords, it's likely to be a urinary tract infection. If it is a solid stream of pink/red, it could be something wrong with the kidneys.

  14. awww thats so sadd  =[ i really hope you find out! good luck for your kitty

  15. Same thing happened to my friends dog it's probably a urinary infection which does need attention but not urgebtly.

  16. He has a urinary track infection...  happened to my Male cat..  and does he cry out while peeing?

Take him to the VET and get him on cat food for those cats that get the urinary infections fairly easily

    Believe it or Not ???

  17. Could just be an infection (bladder or kidney I think), the vet will fix him up and try not to worry.

  18. i dont know,

but i hope it gets better.

  19. Are you sure its a boy cause ur cat could be having its period but if its not take your cat to the vet and see whats going on!!!

  20. girl cats DO NOT have their periods they go into heat...if you see any discharge from your un-spayed female cat then you have a serious problem ...it is called pyometra and it is extremely fatal...it needs to be treated immediately and there will be no other symptoms from your cat she will not be acting sick until the infection has spread into her entire body then it is absolutely too late ...act quick if you see discharge!!!

  21. The vet is the only one who can tell you what's going on.  I would try to give the cat as much comfort and attention as possible.  Animals are very sensitive to our fear and tension, so keep kitty as relaxed as possible.

  22. I'm not sure what exactly could be wrong, but it might be a Kidney or a serious UTI infection, kudos on getting him to the Vet asap, sometimes cats wont act different if they are sick. I hope all is well with kitty.

  23. it could be an infection

  24. When my cat was peeing blood it was because she had a urinary tract infection.  I know this is more common in males, so that might be the cause.  Has he been peeing in unusual places lately?  Obviously the tile floor is not his litter box, but not wanting to use the litter box is one sign of pain when urinating, which can indicate a urinary tract infection.  If this is the problem it can be easily solved when you get to the vet's.  They will just give him an antibiotic for you to give to him.  I'm sure he'll be ok.  Our cat ended up being prone to them, so we switched her to a special food and she never had one again.

  25. My cat also did this and I was worried.  Your  cat is going to be fine. My vet said they get crystals in their urinary tract from their food, usually dry food. My cat had to take some pills for a few days and she was fine. I'm sure they will have you change his brand of food, especially since he's seven, it's probably just to hard on him to digest.

  26.

    Take him to he vet

      could be diabetes

  27. Yes he either has a UTI (urinary tract infection) or he has passed a large stone that has ripped his ureter. Male cats of that age are susceptible to kidney/ bladder stones. If he gets backed up it could be fatal and his kidneys may shut down. You need to bring him to the vet to be examined. Also change his diet to a low or no ash diet.

  28. Best case scenario he could just have a urinary track infection.  best of luck
