so i've got a 4 month old kitten and up til now she's been superb, always going to the toilet in her litter tray etc but now not only does she use her litter tray but she's taken to pooing in the baths and showers around the house! i don't understand why as her litter tray is cleaned almost everyday! she still uses it but ALSO the bath. why the bath? lord. does anyone know how to stop her doing this because it's not as if i have to show her to use the litter tray because she does. do you think i should just put a tray in every room so that she doesn't have to go to far?

  1. Close the bathroom door, while you're not using the bathroom, and if she's still going in there and doing her business, then try following her and taking her to the litter boxx when she's about to do a poo.

  2. that is not a bad thing...she understands that it is an area of water disposal..

I had a cat that was a stray and he only use the bath tub drain, just run hot water down one a day...

he was not interested in the dirt thing...

I don't see why that would be a problem as cats are very clean and I don't think she is bothered by the smell of human tinkle in these areas..

  3. you can put a little bit of water in the bathtub, not enough to make her drown, so that whenever she jumps in she'll jump right back out. im not sure the exact reason they do it but my cat does this to

  4. Easy solution to this one, Close the bathroom door.

  5. Hi, yes, I've got a kitten about the same age and he's been a bit, um, tempermental when it comes to pooing. The best thing is to make wherever else they poo, other than the litter tray, as unappealing as possible.

Shallow cold water left in the bath or something else unpleasant to cat should do the trick. Try bitter spray or orange peel. Also a good idea to reward kitty when you see her use the litter tray. She'll soon get the message. Best of luck - persevere!  It will sort itself out

  6. Keep the bathroom door shut and keep some water in the tub. She'll get the picture eventually.

  7. Take her to a vet.  When a cat stops using their litter box it's usually due to a medical problem.

  8. Find an old bath tub, and stick it outside...with the cat.
