  1. You should give us some more information.  If this is a young cat, and the first litter, or if the litter is quite large, sometimes the mother can get overwhelmed.  Taking care of the kitten yourself for a few days might be all you need to do.  Once she she's that it is thriving, she may take over.

Or maybe there is something very wrong and the baby has no chance.  A vet, or time, could tell you that. It does happen.

  2. If an animal has several babies, it's in their nature to take the best care of the ones she thinks has the best chance of survival. My mother used to raise boxer puppies and it happened a couple times, where the mother gave up on one and we had to raise the babies ourselves. It could be something as simple as the kitten being a runt. Call your vet and he/she can give you a recommendation on what formula would be best for the kitten as well as checking for any serious problems the kitten my have that has made the mother reject it.

    Good luck.

  3. Something may be wrong with the kitten, but your cat is rejecting it for one reason or other.

I'd take both the kitten to the vet, have a vet check her out. Especially if the kitten is fine, you may need to get instructions from the vet about how to hand-feed the kitten - she won't survive without either her mom or your help.

  4. This is one of the classic reasons why cats should not be allowed to mate.  People think that they take care of themselves, but they really don't.

Have you taken it to the vet yet since the kittens were born or before when she was pregnant?  Let me guess and say no.

I HIGHLY suggest that you get your cat fixed, or better yet, get it rehomed along with the kittens (if they live).

I also HIGHLY suggest that you educate yourself on cat ownership and also the fact that MILLIONS of cats are put down due to overpopulation, which by the way, you just added to the problem.  Great job.

It's people like you that help kill millions of animals yearly.

Get your cat fixed or get it rehomed.  And currently, get your cats and the kittens to the vet to get checked out immediately.  She might not be able to feed it, or there is something wrong with the kitten, or she's not understanding what to do, or the kitten is the runt and she's pushing it out because there's not enough milk for them all, or she's just not a good mother or or or or or or.

  5. is she a first time mother? sometimes that happens.  or it could be that maybe something is wrong with the kitten.  mother cats can tell those things and then not want anything to do with them for the sake of the healthy kittens, sad i know but...  if she refuses it, but you think there is a good chance that is is healthy, you might want to bottle feed it and keep it warm with a water bottle.call the vet and do what ever they suggest as a matter of life or death.  good luck.

  6. Because cats naturally do that because cats are very competitive for food. They do not like other cats to be around just in case the other cat decides to eat all of their food. I would suggest keeping the one day old kitten and the female cat together in a room with some things to play with and two bowls of food. That way, the mother will know that the kitten has its own bowl and will not rob the mother of hers.

  7. as ave a natural instinct if their kitte is going to die,, ont get to close to this kitten because it ill die.. u might wanna take it to the vets
