When I got him he was really skinny, that was about 2 years ago. He gained weight after I had him awhile and was a healthy weight. He is about 8 years old, and lately he has lost most of his weight. I can feel his backbone slightly. I gave him a worm pill, and I want sure if he spit it out or not, so a couple of weeks later I gave him another. He acts perfectly normal, he plays and is happy, but he just doesn't eat very much, and when I gave him and my other cat some wet food he just licked at it a little and walked away while my other cat chowed it down. I am going to make a vet appointment tomorrow, but what do you think could be wrong with him?

  1. About 8 yrs is when I had to have my cats teeth scaled.

  2. He might have a tooth going bad. When my cat has a sore tooth he stops eating most of his food. Acts normal, just won't eat. Your vet can figure it out. Teeth can actually be infected without looking or really smelling like it. My cat would crack his at the top and get the infections into his gums, which was why I didn't see it. My Vet would x-ray his teeth and find the problem. Sneaky cat.....

  3. maybe he realized he was getting fat so hes on a diet jaja.

mm its better to take him to the vet to find out whats up. if you want to be sure they swallow the pill, stick it in his mouth as far back as you can and then blow on his face. he'll swallow it for sure!

  4. You may have overdosed him - make sure you tell the vet everything you said here.
