  1. Yep, cats can shed like you wouldn't believe.  Your cat is older so she should be seen by a vet to make sure there is no medical reason, or a diet deficiency that may cause this.

My cat sheds quiet a bit. The only remedy is daily brushing

  2. Cats usually shed their winter coats throughout the summer season. It is hotter, and they don't really need that extra protection. If it is an indoor cat, then maybe your house is warmer than usual. If it is too excessive, then maybe she needs a skin treatment or something. Vets treat and wash cats for skin problems just like dogs.

    I hope this helps! :)

  3. nothing you can do except brush her to make sure she does not get hairballs

  4. It could be an emotional response.  We had 2 cats and 1 passed away, and the surviving cat shed a ton of fur for months after the first one died.  Maybe something may have happened to upset your cat.  But I would bring kitty to a vet to rule out any disease.  You could try paying more attention to her for a while and playing with her more frequently, but I would check with a vet first.

  5. It can be a sign of stress. Or.. other things.

    Take her to the vet.

  6. It could be the heat, stress, or just that she is in need of a good brushing. Have there been any other changes around her like moving, a change in food, another animal or a new baby, are you home more or less? Things like that can be very stressful, especially to an older cat. Cats usually shed during the summer months, and more so if it is extremely hot, but stress is also a big factor. If it really worries you though, it can't hurt to call your vet and mention it to them. See what they suggest.

    Good Luck.

  7. well its summer now and you cat needs to shed its winter coat. brush it daily and it should get off faster.

  8. I have 2 cats and they are shedding all over the place.

  9. My cat is shedding a lot too... Took him to the vet and he said nothing is wrong.

  10. It could be her age--my cat started to go white (she was black and white to begin with) and lose hair when she was about 12, but it could also be that she is stressed, it could be heat, etc.  To help stop it I would make sure you're brushing her at least once or twice a day to help free her of some of that and also they have kitty wipes that help get some of the fur you can't brush out and for some reason keep it from shedding so much.

  11. I just got a brush called the furminator; you can get it at Petco; it really works and worth the money.  Now you pet, play, sleep and there is no hair flying around.  It's probably the hot summer since they tend to shed when they don't need a heavy insulated coat.

    It really really works.
