  1. Well, in my experience, our cat has to get shots so he can breath. Hopefully your cat does not have to get the same thing because between that and the medicine, it can get pricey. :(

  2. I think you could just treat the situation like you would human allergies. Vacuum the place, wet dust, maybe get some plants to help filter the air.

Don't give the cat anti-histamines without vet prescription though. I'm assuming you wouldn't do that, I just wanted to be clear that I'm not suggesting anything of that nature.

  3. so you know for sure she has allergies. Is there a chance she might have a upper respiratory infection? Please take her to the vet.

  4. No because it might not be allergies. It could be something more serious and you need to take him to the vet.

  5. If you are sure it's an allergy then vacuum and clean your house thoroughly, but if it's not and his condition continues, better bring him to the vet asap for a check up. My cat was with me for 13 years before he got into a series of bad cough and wheezing, took him to various vets but then he already became too weak (coz everytime he eats, he will cough, so he ate lesser and lesser) for further checkups. Though I gave him much care, handfed him every day he still leave us after a seizure attack, just this May. :(

And till today I have no idea what happened to him, vets were saying most probably he got some tumor or cancer thing.

So, just be careful and monitor your cat's condition closely, a trip to the vet just to be sure is highly recommended.

  6. There are but you have to have it approved by the vet before you can do it. You also need to confirm with a vet that the problem is allergies. My cat has allergies and I run an purifier for him. My vet gave me medication to give him for symptoms. Why would you want to skimp on his vet care? Why are you looking for "bargain" vetting? Is his health not worth paying for? Giving your cat OTC meds without vet supervision can cost him his life.

It cost me $65 to have Willie diagnosed and his medicine was $5 at my vet.  I found the air purifier in perfect working condition at a yard sale for $2. I talked them down to $1.

  7. Keep a careful watch for nasal discharge as you don't know if you are dealing with an upper respiratory infection or not.   Make sure he continues to eat because if he gets congested he won't eat what he can't smell.  If it is URI it is also highly contagious and can be passed onto other cats in your home.
