Question:

My cat just broke her tail?

My cat's tail just got slammed by a door (strong breeze) and it's definately broken. She seems to be ok, a little shocked but she's walking around. She keeps l*****g her tail and I just noticed that it's been cut, I'm not sure how badly but it looked like you might be able to see the bone. I can only get an emergency vet today as it's Sunday,or I can wait until tomorrow. I hears cat's tails heal themselves so does she need to go at all? Thank you!

  1. Straight to the vet. She's walking around with a broken bone! No wonder she's l*****g it, it must be excruciating.

  2. GO TO THE VET!!!! You cat is in a lot of pain if its broken!

Yes, a cats tail can heal but not on its own, you must wrap it up with a bandage so that the bones are in the right lineament. However do not do this too tightly because it will stop the blood, do it firmly. Although this is 70 percent safe you must see a vet!

  3. I'd get your cat to the vet. The door slammed on my cat's tail too, and we took him to the vet. Luckily cats have 2 blood vessels (well from what i can remember the vet saying) my cat only burst 1 so kept his tail. Now he walks round with it bent over like a question mark. He very sensitive if touched were he hurt his tail. Go see your vet asap, i hope its not serious.

  4. this happened to my cat , she healed but always had a kink in her tail

keep  your eye on her and treat her carefully , i never went to the vet she healed herself

  5. She may not feel any pain at the moment because it has probably gone very numb because it has killed a few nerves. I know it is expensive but i should really call the vets today because if you leave the cut even for a short period it can get infected and it would probably have to get amputated and that would cost even more. It is true that there saliva is a good healer but sometimes if they have just washed themselves in dirth places like under her paws then she could spread the bacteria and make it worse. So i advise you to get the vet asap.

  6. OUCH!!!She will be ok if left alone. We look and touch what we have jammed. No different.

  7. I'd go to the vets, it might be a more serious break, plus you have the chance the cut might get infected.

We used to have a cat, the door slammed on her tail in the wind, she bolted off leaving a third of the skin on her tail in the door and the bone sticking out. She didn't even notice and was walking around with a bone sticking out. We took her to the vets, who removed the bit without any skin, and then she had a short tail.

  8. I have to agree with the others, get her to the vet, if she gets infection in the wound she could lose her tail. Poor kitty I hope she is better soon.

  9. Take her to vet. Maybe it will self-healing but it's gotta be painful to her through out days. Don't tell me that you're just going to let her tail nature healed like those stray cats when she has an owner?

  10. Of course take her asap, If you traped your arm in a door and broke it you would go to hospital its no different, the pdsa and cats protection can help with vets bills if your struggling,

Cats protection- 0800237723, they will be happy to help you

please take her, cats hide pain well but they still feel it as much as you or me, I hope she gets better soon, Katie.

  11. Please get her to the Vet NOW. This will be extremely painful for her and if the bone is exposed it is vulnerable to infection. This really cannot wait until tomorrow/Tuesday.

  12. If you had broken you leg, would you sit around and ponder whether to go to hospital or not?

    No, quite.

Your vet needs to see the vet NOW! She will be in pain which I'm sure you wouldn't wish on her.

    Please get her treated NOW!
