She's been very good lately, (she pee'd on our new carpet when we first got it) using her litter box etc. My husband and I were watching tv (and trying to get her to lay with me) and she had her back to me and wizzed! I thought she was done with this. She's on innova acient diet and it very healthy and given lots of attention! I did spray a carpet freshner foam on Friday but I don't understand why in front of us?

we are trying to conceive and maybe this is the month I'm preg. could she smell this maybe???

  1. well, just so you know, cats dont urinate out of the box for any old reason.  There is a medical reason behind this.  Most likely a UTI aka urinary tract infection or bladder infection.  Call your veterinarian and get a urinalysis for your cat usually costs about 30-40 dollars . They will find out what type of infection it is, whether or not there is blood and whether or not if she/he has crystals which may haved formed from the food.  Then put her on antibiotics for a round and recheck it.  That should solve the problem.  If this has been going on for a while you may have to put her on an antianxiety drug to get her back in the box.  This is really easy to do! Good luck!

  2. maybe she was trying to tell you she didn't want to pee in her litterbox....

good luck getting it out, because you wont completely.

  3. Wow, normally its a male cat who does this.

First thing I would wonder is whether she is sick or if she isn't spayed, is SHE pregnant?  Also, normally the female wizz isn't smelly like a male cat's is - so thats weird, too.

When my cat started to do this exact same thing,  I was told by my vet that (it was a male cat, though) he may have been angry with me for something, and he said that cats sometimes show their anger by doing things they know you don't want them to do in order to show you that they are pissed off (pardon the pun).  But I don't know if thats

just male cats or includes females as well (?)

I would keep an eye on her for illness, and whatever you do, don't hit her or scold her, because she may have not been able to hold it in,

example:  dry foods often cause urinary tract infections in female cats,

and she may not have been able to help it.  Watch her and be sure she isn't getting too much dry food, also make sure you give her fresh water several times per day.

If she does it again, or if she seems not willing to eat or not happy,

then you better give your vet a call.

  4. it takes time.

  5. A cat peeing with its back to you is showing that it trusts you. It is putting itself in a very vulnerable position to attack (think if it was you), but it doesn't see you as a threat.

BTW rub some vodka into the area and it will get rid of the smell and stop the cat using the same spot in future

  6. Maybe she has a kidney infection or a bladder infection. .....when you have a baby someday, you will realize that there are all kinds of quirky things that happen to living creatures that are odd! good luck with conception~!

  7. Hopefully this is not the reason but because it can be serious you need to check on this.   Our cat pees in inappropriate place on;y if she has a urinary tract infection and in cats these are very serious.  Here's how to check.  Get your hubby to empty the litter box asap since pregnant women are not supposed to handle litter.  Then watch closely to be sure she is not going in there doing little or nothing and going back in a little while and doing little or nothing again.   Also check for dehydration by lifting the skin on the back of her neck at the shoulders and seeing if it goes down quickly or stays up some.   If it goes down right away she is not dehydrated if it stays up just a very little she is a little dehydrated if it stays up quite a bit she is very dehydrated.  Cats can drink clear or orange pedialyte and may drink chicken or beef broth but what I find works best for getting fluid into a cat is the water drained from water pack tuna or simply mixing a little canned cat food with water about half and half (cat food soup consistency) If the cat is more than just a little dehydrated or is going to her box repeatedly without being able to use it she is very sick and needs an emergency vet trip.  I know they are expensive but obviously you love your kitty and this can be alife and death thing. A very dehydrated cat needs IV or IM fluids and urinary infections normally will not clear up on their own.   It's just a guess but I think our cat pees right in front of us to tell us she is feeling bad in that area of her body and make sure we see and understand.

As far as destinking if something is washable arm and hammer detergent works well.   If not baking soda on the spot as soon as possible let sit then vacumning up helps.   Then treat with carpet shampoo or whatever product has worked best for you.   I use a dollar general store brand.   Resist the temptation to spray it on or at the cat bec it can hurt her and cost more vet bills.  My grandmother ised to use a couple of drops of vanilla to change the scent of a place where a cat or dog did bad so that it was no longer attractive to them.   It will stain however so if the place is light clored don't do that.  Bitter lime or bitter apple fromthe pet store is a good deterent too (not de stink just preventong repeat performances)

  8. I used to have a cat and it's very normal for cats to do that. Just  get a rag  with water and bleach and scrub the area.

By the way you said you were "trying to get her to stay with you" If you were forcing the cat to sit with you than it will pee trust me!

  9. i think your cat peed infront of you because you dont pee in front of her. At last somebody has to take the first step.

  10. he is marking you as his territory! He loves you and he is jealous of the baby that you are going to have. try giving him lots of extra love!

  11. She probably has a urinary tract infection... it sometimes makes them disoriented and they'll pee where they are.  try some Resolve.

  12. I have Three male cats, 1 Male dog and last year I had two Female cats.

This could be a problem with the cat box. Dirty cat box, in a bad area she don't like. The cat litter might be to dusty.

something else to look for is if she is sick or in pain. Does she have any wounds on her belly neck or paws? It shouldn't be the food seeing you already put that in the factor.

With the smell of cat pee. Disgusting, I know.

Try Resolve carpet cleaner. Use the considerate stuff that is for carpet machines. put some in a bowl and hot water. Use a towel and soak it with the hot water and then dab it out, pulling the smell out. Good luck!

  13. lady its a freakin animal..and it should be outside where it can pee in peace! good day!

  14. Please PLEASE go to the site listed below its by people who actually know what they are talking about and may make the difference in you and your cats happiness. It has a variety of reasons and suggestions for helping and its from the Cornell Vet school.

  15. kitty cats usually do that when they get mad at u,pet it,and love it and it wont get mad, yeah summers eve and urine begone,u can find it at wallmart

  16. some cats hold a grudge...they arent dumb animals...if you did something recently to p**s her off then she will retaliate...in other words..petting another animal or pushing her away when she wants petted or not feeding her when she wants it.  also...it could be the change in carpet...maybe something that was used to lay it that attracts her.  u can go to wal-mart and pick up a spray can of pet stay off spray that repels them..dont spray it around her litter box..that wold defeat the purpose..try resolve to take out the excess urine and the smell

  17. There are alot of reasons a cat would do this. anyways, If you can find a product called "get the odour out" it works verrry well. You can find it at Wal-mart. It's what I use and nothing works better.

  18. try pooing on the pee, that'll change the smell up a bit.     kidding,  hmm. try febreeze or something like that use the whole bottle

  19. Summer's eve

  20. Cat's will pee infront of their owners if they have a urinary infection, this is sometimes painful and they will associate the pain with the litter box and try another area..I would say bring your kitty to the vet to at the very least rule this out, testing is not very expensive.

  21. YOUR A BAD MOMMY

    no jk

well what i did when my cat peed was i brought it to it and said no and made sure it saw it then made a Veniger solution with Distilled water useing an old cleaning solution spray bottle. it was 75% vinegar and 25% water so if you made 4cups of it  u take 3 cups of vinegar and 1 of distilled water it will keep the cat away from the spot(as not to return) and it will clean the carped. let it soak in don't dry it up.
