Rash may be reaction to a flea collar - made for cats. I removed it & am treating the rash with topical applications of calamine and benadryl. He is an Aids kitty,

  1. Swishing his tail is a sign of pain or discomfort.

Are you saying your cat has FIV ?

If this is the case you really need to pop him along to your vets, having FIV means his immune system is low and the rash could easily turn to an infection.

Do not treat him with Benadryl without speaking to your vet

  2. trip to the vet would seems necessary, i don't know the symptoms of hiv for cats but a vet would. tail swish aside rash isn't a good sign.

  3. Best to check with the vet. Tail swishing means the cat is irritated or has discomfort.

  4. Maybe your cat is trying to scratch the rash with its tail?

  5. Flea collars do absolutely NOTHING for fleas. And they contain chemicals that can harm or kill cats - especially if they get wet. I would take this cat to the vet. Benedryl is used in cats and dogs for allergy issues, but you need to know how much to give or you can overdose the cat. Stop the calamine because if the cat licks it, it can make your cat sick or worse.

You need to get your cat in to the vet.
