My cat keeps meowing at me.........?

My cat had kittens this morning it is her first litter & she kept looking for my attention the whole time she was in labour. After kits were born i left her to it in the box as i did not want to interfere with clean towels until she had settled down. This evening she keeps coming to me & meowing & loving me, if i get up & follow her she goes back to your kits & just wants me to sit with her & pat her. Is she just wanting to show off her kits to me? I don't want to have my hands in the box too much for the first few days as i don't want her to reject them. Am i ok to just keep patting her & making a fuss?

  1. All about pride. She wants you to see that she accomplished a feat in her life.

Give her plenty of love, it shows her you care. She'll go to her own kittens, don't worry, but for now, as her owner, she wants you to feel proud of her.

  2. She really just wants attention shes going through something new and clearly knows that you are there for her. Keep giving her attention, but you are right to stay away from the kittens for a little while. Once she's comfortable with her little babies, you all can be a happy family, and she should stop asking for so much attention.

  3. she just wants some reassurance and love from you

  4. she need a lady with her...cats can smell estrogen and she need you to be with her to give her support...dont touch the kitty.....just pet her and stay as long as she want... =]

    good luck =]

  5. Just ignore her. She probably just wants attention. My cat's do that to me all the time, only they lead me to random places.

  6. aw congrats my cat had a litter of kittens as well, and when i saw her she's been yearning for me to pet her. I think it soothes her, just be in her place wouldn't you want someone there with you after giving birth?

  7. You are doing exactly what your cat wants you to do, she wants you to be near her and reassure her everything is ok

  8. just keep petting her. she will eventally calm down.

  9. She wants you to be proud, I wouldn't handle the kittens a lot but give the mother lots of love.  After all look at what she just went through.  I would want all the love and attention I could get...
