My cat keeps poking me. She waits till I'm right about to fall asleep then pokes me in the belly with her claws. She then waits till I am about to fall asleep again and does it again. Even when I shoo her away, she stays away, then when I am about to fall asleep, she runs up and pokes me.

How do I get her to stop?

  1. she is just worried about you a instinct to see that you are okay give her some toys then she will not bother you so much.

  2. She's not poking you, she's loving you. If it's a kneading action, like one would knead dough, it's her reaction to seeing you as her Mum or Dad because they did that at kittens to their real mum. Unless of course she's actually just playing with you while she sleeps in which case if she's young she'll eventually calm down and you'll be fine. You can discipline a cat much like you can a dog (gentler however) and they'll get it when you yell NO at them.

  3. Glue like 5 mousetraps onto your stomach and if she tries to poke you....well, lets just say she won't do it ever again.

  4. I'd poke her back!

  5. She is a cat and what you are describing is pretty natural for them.  Try a small spray bottle with water in it - gently mist her when she starts this behavior - she will get the message

  6. poke her back! no just kidding when you want her to go away put her in a room and shut the door then she cant get out and you can go to sleep!

  7. Shut your door.  She can't open doors can she?

  8. Maybe she's hungry?  My cat always wakes me in the middle of the night for food and if I don't get up and give her some, she wakes me up again... and again... and again...

  9. I wouldn't allow my cat to be in the bedroom when

    I'm sleeping.

Go to a pet shop and buy a cat bed and keep it

    in the kitchen/sitting-room.

And close the bedroom door at night !

  10. My cat does the same thing. It's actually just here "kneading" you to show affection, the poking thing is just because she has claws.

To get rid of the poking sensation, try trimming her claws.

But, if you trying to show dominance over her, then keep her off your bed and lock her away at night or try shutting the door.

But the "kneading" thing is just what cats to to show affection and make themselves comfortable.

  11. close your room doors .
