I was just wondering if anyone would have any idea about what I can do for her, she is five months old, and is constantly scratching her left ear...any help would be appreicated! :) Also I just got another kitten who was invested with fleas when I first got her, but thankfully both cats have been treated with advantage and the fleas don't seem to be a problem anymore

  1. Could be ear mites.  Have your vet check them.  They'll prescribe something like Tresaderm, Revolution or Acarexx to treat them.  Did your cats get treated with Advantage or Advantage-Multi? (Advantage-Multi should take care of the mites.)  Good luck!

  2. heres my advise go and make a apointment to the vet to see wats wrong with your kittys ear so i realy hope ur cat gets better.

  3. Might be ear mites

Ear mites are tiny crab like parasites, if left untreated, can cause a bacterial and yeast infections and, in extreme cases, rupture of the ear drum leading to seizures and deafness. Ear mites (Otodectes cynotis) are the most common cause of outer-ear inflammation in cats - especially kittens and young cats. Frequent ear scratching and head shaking are the most often seen symptoms.

When a mite-infested cat constantly scratches its ear, it can tear open tiny blood vessels in the ear flap, which can lead to swelling (known as hematoma) and permanent disfigurement.

It is very contageous to other cats, so I would recomend getting the possibly infected cat into the vet to have it examined. They will give you a solution that you can put in all your cats ears.

I hope your kitty gets better

  4. I bet she has ear mites!  Look in the ear.  Do you see any crusty dark colored stuff?  She needs to get some drops from the vet and she'll feel a lot better.

  5. Ear mites! My cat got them and she was always scratching. Or flees? Fleas can get in or on the ears.
