I was getting ready to cook a raw chicken breast and had it sitting on a plate on my kitchen counter. The phone rang and I turned away for a minute only to turn back around and find my 11 month old cat l*****g the chicken. Yuck! Is he going to get sick or poisoned or die from this?

My vet's office is closed right now. I can't call them.

  1. Hi Gracey... any raw meat will not affect a cat's life contrary to what many people have been told. Cats are obligate carnivores, therefore their stomachs have a highly acidic environment, which is an excellent deterrent to ingested bacteria.
