the rest of hims very thin, but his stomach's just swollen up so much..... it's been like that for about 2 weeks.

today he's stopped eating anything, we've tried fish, chicken, anything, and he won't eat.

he has arthritis in his back legs and cant walk very much.

he tried to get up onto the window sill today but fell of backwards.

he's 18 years old.

what;s wrong with him?

also, thing is, we're going n holiday to turkey in 3 days, and he's going to the cattery, and if he's to ill they wont take him.

also, he went for a vet checkup about 3 weeks ago, and they said nothing...?

  1. He could just have gas. Do you have him on a good senior diet?

  2. It sounds like hes sick or gained weight fast.Maybe you should see the vet if hes nit eating because he could be really sick.Good luck

  3. MKAII. so heres my advise

its normal for an old cats

    to get breathing problems

    but the lump isnt normal.

    TAKE HIM TO THE VET!!

    ASAP. 3 weeks ago was

a long time it probably got

    bigger or spraed it self!!!

hes probably in alot of pain.

  4. Well, if the vet says nothing Im sure he is just fine, just give him sometime. If he is not better soon, call the vet again

  5. Well, the thing is, your cat is in the ripe old age of 18 and anytime your cat may die. They can live to be 20 and even older (oldest cat is 36). The problem could be his liver because that's a common problem in cats. But I don't think so.

http://ask.metafilter.com/27232/Swollen-... This is a blog entry about someone who had a similar problem and fixed the problem.

  6. It could be a tumor. And to be honest the cat is a bit old... If he is suffering, the best thing for him is to put him down, despite how your dad feels all holiday. You'll end up coming home to a very slow dying cat, who is suffering even more, if he isnt already dead.

  7. I would call the vet. If this just happened suddenly, there's definitely something going on. My sister's vet has a kennel and they did foot surgery on her dog and boarded the dog while she was gone on vacation. See if your vet boards animals as well or have a friend care for the cat while you're gone.

  8. srry to say it but most likley ur cat has canser my aunts old "dog" did the same thing u need to bring ur cat the the vet
