My cat pees and poops everywhere!?

He has never had this problem before, the occasional t**d outside the box when he's mad. And nothing has changed around here... I just noticed that the couch had pee on it 2 days ago, and ever since he's been peeing on it a few times a day! I thought he may have a UTI, but tonight he started pooping nearby as well! He doesn't do it when we're gone or anything, he did it sometime in the 10 minutes that i was showering this morning. And just now we were going to bed, and forgot something; came back out and he had done it again! He's acting completely normal. Can anyone shine some light on this behavior?

  1. Bladder infection and inflammatory bowel disease is what happen to my cat, the pain of the act of potty kitty thought it related to the sand box.. BETTER GO TO THE VET!!! GOOD LUCK

  2. I literally just asked a similar question to this.  In short, what I had to do, was

    A. Give the cat more attention.... she seemed like she needed more attention, so we are now giving it to her.

    B. Scoop the litter box every day.  As cats get older they become more fickle, or picky.  They do not like dirty litter boxes.  Some cats, as they get older, will not even pee and p**p in the same box.  Just as a person would not go potty in a dirty port-a-potty or toilet, a cat will not pee or p**p in a dirty box.  Try getting a second box and place it in an area that the cat likes to hang out in.  Also if you just recently changed brands of litter, the cat might dislike the new brand.

    C.  Take the cat to the vet, just to make sure it isnt a UTI, and that it isnt sick.  When cats get sick, the only way that they can get an owners attention is to act out.

    D.  Get an enzyme spray from a pet store that is made to remove cat urine from furniture.  It will deter the cat from peeing there again and it will get the odor out.

    E.  Make sure the food and water bowls are a good distance from the litter box.  A cat will not pee or p**p in the same area that it goes potty in.

Also what might help, is when the cat DOES p**p on the couch, pick it up with toilet paper, put the p**p in the litter box, and show the cat, that "this is where the p**p belongs".  Whatever you do though, do not punish your cat, or confine it to a small room.  This will only make your cat resent you even more, and cause it to act out more.

  3. Don't leave the little poopsy alone because he'll do an oopsy. Put the little poosy on a rope and take him with you all over. And get rid of that oopsy couch.
