My cat pees in the basement

i have had 2 cats for around 5 years and about 1 year ago we got a dog since then they have been peeing in the basement.getting rid of either animal is not an option!!

Put a litterbox in the basement - they are trying to tell you something.

Cats need privacy, and perhaps the dog is "disturbing" the cats when they are trying to relieve themselves.  Ideally your should have one box per cat, and if you have a multi-story house - one on each level.  Make sure there is 3-4 inches of fresh, clean litter in each box.

Also, make sure you are cleaning out the litter daily.
